I have used six Trojan 105 six volts on my sailboat and they work beautifully. I have also used two Lifeline 8d AGM battery's that cost a small fortune. The Trojan 105 worked better lasted longer

Take a look at Grayham Radford's designs simply google him at Grayham Radford yacht design and look at his design for the Radford 450...

If Gypsy Moth were GRP where would she be. Early GRP boats had lots of material and resign and more resign modern day boat don't. Again there is no perfect boat building material but one comes close...
