Re: St. Francis 50

I see the price has dropped to $845,000. Still too high I think. But getting closer to what I might pay.

But that nasty Covid 19 thing limits travel and honestly, given the situation in the US...

Re: St. Francis 50

My problem with Suliere is not the asking price, nor the boat itself. Each owner has the right to ask what they want.

But having watched the owner and his public disagreements with boat builders...

Re: Used catamaran prices, availability during recession or crisis?

I really hope that was sarcasm. Just remember, we are all in this together, just a little further apart.

Taking advantage of people at such a time as indicated above is disgusting..

Saildrives vs Inboard

Not so. Starry Horizons has installed ripe strippers on their Volvo sail drives on their Helia 44. You can find information on their blog.

Volvo Penta Electric Engines

I came across this on YouTube. Certainly not yet suitable for use in a cruising environment but interesting.

Re: YouTube Sailors - Overly Romanticized Or Just Lacking Details?

Watching YouTube sailing channels is like eating a chocolate bar for supper. Not realistic but a guilty pleasure.

I chose to enjoy those channels that are a bit more down to earth, show the warts...

Re: YouTube Sailors - Overly Romanticized Or Just Lacking Details?

Thanks Alex. I found your channel about 18 months ago and watch regularly.

Windedvoyage on YouTube is a pretty good follow. Alex doesn’t throw money at his boat, he looked long and hard to find...

Re: Politics. Or Not please

The comment that started this thread was someone calling California, Kalifornia the home of communists.

I am a Canadian but I found this comment to be made to incite others to anger.

I don’t...

As a Canadian I will take the blame and apologize! Or not.

Re: Politics. Or Not please

Thank you for the balance. I have views on Brexit that I will keep to myself as it does not affect me.

Re: Politics. Or Not please

And how long ago was that? I have learned to let my political view points stay where they belong, away from here.

Thank you for allowing me to show that we all can change for the better.

Politics. Or Not please

Lately I have noticed a trend on CF that many threads turn into little flame wars about politics or there are snide comments about people’s beliefs, attitudes or political positions.

I hate to be...

Re: Just signed on a new 450s!

Thanks for the information. Sorry about the multiple posts. I am posting from my phone and it doesn’t seem to like the app Cruisers Forum uses for some reason

Just signed on a new 450s!

It all looks very good Dave. I was wondering if you had considered an induction cooktop as opposed to gas? And if so, could you please share your decision making process to continue with gas. Thanks.

Re: What is history of Dean Boats & Xquisite Catamarans?

I didn’t really investigate the tech very much. I more overheard some things. I understand the systems can be run from an iPad as well as the chart plotter. This is not unusual for many boat...

Re: What is history of Dean Boats & Xquisite Catamarans?

I was there as well. Of the three my favourite was the Privilege. The Majestic felt a bit old fashioned for some reason. The X5 is a fantastic boat in many ways but the tech puts me off. I do like...

Re: Astrea 42 vs Lagoon 42, Comparison from Cannes

While I certainly respect the opinions of many of the members on the forum, I wonder why the need to be critical of the OP?

Yes, these are sail boats. And sailing is an important factor. However,...

Hey Dave. Thanks for the information and thanks to Haley for the videos. Did you consider going for an induction cook top?

Re: Lagoon 380 to end production in spring

I don't dispute the cost of bigger boats but I wonder if the marketplace is telling Lagoon it's time? I don't know what the wait time on a new 380 is but I suspect its relatively short.

Re: forward cockpits and picture windows

One has to wonder what prompts such posts. Is it the need to start another condomaran vs performance cats debate and clusterfluck? Or is the OP just bored?

Re: here's a rant for you all to discuss... brokers. Yuck.

While I appreciate your opinion regarding the challenges brokers face, I take objection to your view on new sailors. There are more than a few people that have done just that.

And some of them...

Re: Skill has devolved thanks to GPS

GPS is a tool. Just like maps are. And a tool is only as good as the person using them.
