Re: Who has run into a floating container

Does anyone armor their keel with anything like a piece of 2x2 angle iron? I saw a product once called (I think) keel guard that was high density plastic about 4 inches across that was glued to the...

Re: Wiring In Series (pro vs con)

Umm that is actually 3 2v cells attached in parallel. Hence the three cell caps. Trojans 2 v battery is the same as their regular L16 with a Parallel instead of a series wiring setup

Re: Latching relays for protecting LiFePO4 batteries

No matter what voltage you are running at the relay will have a certain resistance across the terminals causing a fixed voltage drop across those terminals for a given amperage. That resistance...

Re: Latching relays for protecting LiFePO4 batteries

If the relay takes 100 amps at 48v, it'll take 100 amps at 12v. Amps is a count of the electrons passing a single point per second. Doesn't matter the pressure (voltage). Voltage rating for a relay...

Re: Wrench Area Above Turnbuckle Is Rounded Off, What To Do?

When it comes to Vicegrips, only the name brand ones will do. Even Snapon locking pliers are a poor substitute.

Probably not for the OP but I came across the following light bars on ebay, they sound promising for high intensity spreader lights

Re: Large frame alternator under engine?

Depends on which side of the flex mounts the alternator is mounted to. As long as he attaches the alternator to the engine side of the flex mount there should be no issues.....

Re: question on twin 30 amp shore power service

I would run the neutral legs separately due to you don't know how bad the wiring you are plugging into is. It's very possible some marina guy swapped your hot and neutral leads.

Re: Hydraulic Davit Question?

Rigid supports should work. I'd make sure to bungee the rigid supports to the davit arms, so they are above the boat while the boat is being raised. Then lower them into the boat and secure to the...

Re: Meter question

Sounds like the amount of power the solar panels are currently putting out. Volts x Amperes = Watts.

Re: How to keep lights isolated

Look real close at the ground connections. if all those loads are affecting you, I'd suspect one of the main ground connections, possibly on the engine block.

Re: 100W Panel with PWM or MPPT & ACR to start motor

You will not get 115w out of a 100 watt panel. Instead you will get the 100 watts you paid for instead of the 85 watts your 100 watt panel would deliver. The difference is that your panels are rated...

Re: Can my batteries be saved?

I think I would separately discharge each battery to 5.25 volts, then charge them both back up and recheck your s.g. Hopefully you would be better balanced, sounds like the two batteries are at...

Re: Hot water system stopped working from engine heat exchanger

I would check your engine thermostat. Sounds like it is jammed open providing too much cooling for your engine and consequently never heating up enough for your water heater.

Re: Boat Names...point of view

My last sail boat was a 26 foot sloop named Calm Down. I was always yelling at my ex-wife to calm down any time we took her out in it.

Re: LiFePO4 Batteries: Discussion Thread for Those Using Them as House Banks

If the test was setup as each boat used one cell from each manufacturer, then you could test four different cells in the same environment.

Not to be nitpicky..... well maybe:D.... There are 3600 seconds in an hour. By your figures that'd be 0.23 amp hours drain.
