Re: Garmin GHP 12 Issue
I'd suggest contacting hypro directly. there is a distributor on the east coast, NJ I think, that can supply the part. I've had the issue come up again and the part is no longer $35. It's... |

Re: How to replace transducer without sinking
I've done the plunger route to replace a thru hull valve. It works well and as mentioned you should have two people helping with one in the water. |

Re: Longboat Key Pass local/recent knowledge
Yes, that's exactly the pass we plan on entering. I've read various reports about bad shoaling and using high tide with calm seas. Staying south and east of the LP and south and east of the... |

Re: Longboat Key Pass local/recent knowledge
Thanks for the updates. I can live with a couple couple of feet under the keel but your advice about transit during high tide is sound. Thanks. |

Re: Pensacola to Corpus Christi Aug/Sept
Congrats on the boat. As was pointed out, it's the beginning of the high hurricane season so pick your window carefully. Tropical storms can spin up in the gulf very quickly too. The gulf tends... |

Re: Autopilot Drive Selection
Higly recommend you do this. You'll find much information about failures of the simrads but very little on the raymarine and garmins. Also, find out who actually makes the unit. As an example,... |

Re: Why is Rear Tube Splitting on Formosa 41?
Metal fatigue. Fancy names for it but the bottom line is that it's old and needs to be replaced. The tube is constantly full of salt water and is subject to the elements as well as vibration and... |

Re: Single Hand? Is it possible?
I single hand a 43' modified full keel. I've set her up to bring everything to the cockpit. I've also thought through all the systems and processes you'll need to perform while single handing..... |

Re: Help Me Refinish My Cabin Sole- YouTube
Well, looks like ultimate sole is out of business. What a shame. After 6 years of fairly regular use my sole is as nice as the day I refinished it. The non skid aspect is what attracted me too. |

Re: Help Me Refinish My Cabin Sole- YouTube
i would use a heat gun or 150 grit in a small section to see what you have. Indeed it looks like a failed costing with water penetration. If it's a solid teak holly sole you shouldn't have a problem.... |
