Re: Hallberg Rassy 38 in Tahiti, French Polynesia

What a stunning and very well equipped boat. Exactly what I am looking for, though sadly in the wrong part of the world! :banghead:

Best of luck with the sale :thumb:

Re: 2006 Spray 33 Steel Hull Cutter Great Cond.

Sadly, I'm not not lacking in the 'want' department! Solo sailing the Atlantic, as part of the bigger picture, is what I aspire to do. It's time, additional costs and usability in the coming months...

What a lovely and well-equipped boat she is. If only she was on my side of the pond!

Re: Ocean pedigree 40'-47' sailboat.

Lochmarin is unfortunately too big and too expensive for me. However, what a truly beautiful boat! :-)

Re: Alu mono 38ft. Ocean,fully equipped.500Watt.Decksalon.New sails&rigging&low hours

I have to agree with Steadman. She is a very nice and incredibly well-equipped boat. A tad on the small side for me though almost perfect in every other way. Good luck with the sale - she'll make...

Re: Ocean pedigree 40'-47' sailboat.

I viewed this advert earlier, twice, and have to admit that she is such a lovely looking boat. My reason for not pursuing further is similar to the reasons for the sellers listing her: size. I don't...

Re: Ocean pedigree 40'-47' sailboat.

Thank you, Ann.

I am looking at all sorts at the moment. The more I read and try to understand about the boat I want for the journey, the better and more varied my options become. My initial post...

Re: Ocean pedigree 40'-47' sailboat.

My last boat was a Moody 336. I looked at a few 38s, 425s and 44s. They hold their money! But good boats all the same.

Re: Ocean pedigree 40'-47' sailboat.

She's a beautiful looking boat. She is probably a little tight at 37ft for what I am wanting to do. She also only has one head and is not UK/EU tax paid. All these things matter to me. But she is...

Raspberry/Openplotter...no wifi!!

Hi All,

I recently bought a Raspberry pi 3. It has built-in wifi and worked a treat when I loaded Raspbian (supplied on an SD card with the RPI).

Then I decided to load Openplotter and see what...

Re: Is length of antenna for MF/HF frequencies (Rx only) important?

Is going from the coax feed into a 3.5mm ext. antenna socket going to affect the reception? It would be a terrible shame if all the hard work of choosing the right antenna and setup were to be undone...

Re: Is length of antenna for MF/HF frequencies (Rx only) important?

So, a major step to an Rx only set up to get weather faxes has been taken. I have just won an Ebay auction for a Tecsun PL 680. I have read all of your comments regarding the different radios...

Not so fast there SoonerSailor - I think I am getting to grips with it...

Radio + Battery + transmission = live output through oscillating lines that match up with wire of certain length over rum...

"Are you using a sacrificial anode for a ground? Usually at the bottom of the boat if it is a metallic hull.

If your radio is independent from the boat (batteries) then you should make sure it...

Hey Pinguino,

Those weather fax images you uploaded in an earlier post, especially the second one, look spot on.

I have just spent a couple of hours looking at different radios that would...

Re: Is length of antenna for MF/HF frequencies (Rx only) important?

I don't know why but I assumed that a Degen 1103 was some permanently installed boat radio!! Ummm, slightly out on that one

I have just read a few of the reviews - it seems to work...

Re: Is length of antenna for MF/HF frequencies (Rx only) important?

Some of these SDRs have a 'Ham it Up' option (slightly more expensive) which then gives it a frequency range of 100khz - 1.7ghz, like this one for example:

Re: Is length of antenna for MF/HF frequencies (Rx only) important?

All,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. As mentioned, it is only for Rx. As I am a belt and braces man - and I like to experiment with things - I think an inexpensive dongle has to be worth a...

Is length of antenna for MF/HF frequencies (Rx only) important?

Hi Guys,

I think I understand that power output and length, angle and placement of antenna are important features for the Tx side of an HF/SSB set up. But just how important are they for the Rx...

Re: 39ft - 45ft Monohull - mediterranean

Apart from your Bavaria (assuming you still own it) being 1 foot short of your acceptable boat length margins, is there any reason why that won't get you to NZ?

That aside, there are a few recent...

Re: Classic blue water 35ft Ketch.

I think you can still edit your own post at the bottom right of your message, where you also have the option to quote. That might work. I am no expert in here
