Re: Aqua Map crashes

Add me to the list of people having AquaMap crash and I'm also using the Digital Yacht NavLink2 wifi. Turning off AIS definitely helps (I'm in an area with 100s of AIS returns). But it always...

Re: One More Harbor Dropping Dye Markers in Holding Tanks

As soon as you said Newport Beach Harbor, I cringed. I lived there many years and the Harbor Patrol there is the least friendly bunch of police I've ever met. You would think patroling the OC would...

Re: 'Big Catch' S/V Quest Capture - Non-Politcal !

The piracy problem in this area has been a well known problem for years. So I'm a surprised to hear that yachts still attempt to operate in these waters. Is this still common? What reliable...

In order for the Airmar sensor to work, don't you have to run a NMEA 2000 network cable to it? So doesn't that make your electronics network essentially a lightning rod?

Making your network a lightning rod.

Let me elaborate. One of the nifty things an integrated system can do is compute true wind from apparent wind if the mast-top wind speed and direction is integrated. And the new solid state mast...

Integrated Electronics and All Your Eggs in One Basket

My boat is than vintage and I"ve rewired most of the boat with tinned wire but not because the older untinned wire was failing. Actually it was in surprisingly good shape and I can't remember ever...

I haven't been down this road yet, but I've been looking into it. I always try to avoid getting locked into a proprietary network like Raymarine. They'd like to get you committed with a jucy entry...

Row out an anchor?

I have a 8' hard dink and I like it. Sometimes I row, sometimes use 2hp motor.

One criteria of mine is to be able dingy out an extra anchor in 30+ knots of wind. I've done before by rowing a hard...
