Re: Best boat for cruising

Not sorry to say: point 3 is NOT true. Having a Lowe r than popularly accepted budget is imo ++ an advantage. Do not consider any modern expensive production cat. They don’t sail much better than a...

Re: Yachties deported from NZ

Love the way this thread has got real finally. And thanks for the one fine 58ft cat my son and l will enjoy. Always have preferred good boats to people who don’t deserve them. Don’t have to love...

Re: Yachties deported from NZ

I say again: There is no problem. Fly home and we will sail your boats to NZ. Everyone wins. You get to enjoy your own country and all its great handling of this C19 and we get your boats. Or at...

Re: Yachties deported from NZ

We that have lived in NZ and had a long experience of ill-equiped, unskilled, and too often badly behaved Pacific cruisers are getting tired of that lot. True for some of us even before C19....

Re: Yachties deported from NZ

Wow. What amazing “reasoning”
1. Your argument relies on the good behaviour of yachties once they arrive. NZ has to clear them in and verify their “quarantine in transit” and go the further step...

Re: Light weight cruising catamaran

[QUOTE=mikedefieslife;3203370]In certain conditions I notice a significantly more comfortable ride or anchor, when I have an extra 300kg on board. I remember motoring from Gozo to mainland Malta....

Re: Light weight cruising catamaran

Ironic to read all these posts on the seaworthiness of “Lightweight Cats”. All yachts, but especially multihulls are less seaworthy when carrying too much weight. Weight= slow= stress= stupid....

Re: Cruisers seeking humanitarian refuge in NZ

Why do Skippy’s have issues with Yanks? They do with all foreigners. It’s called an inferiority complex.

Thumbs up Re: Heavy Monohulls vs Light Catamarans

Agreed. Like to say I’ve won a few races in the heaviest boat in the fleet but I can only remember very few and that was back in dinghy days. Bit more difficult in bigger yachts where it’s a good...

Re: Heavy Monohulls vs Light Catamarans

We are all ignorant. We can all, at least us on this site. Want to know more? Read more history as well. Nothing is all that new.

Re: Heavy Monohulls vs Light Catamarans

Wasn’t it a Hereschoff? :”The only thing weight is good for is a steamroller “. Too much weight kills multis, monos, and old sailors like me. Slow is often not safe. Weight = stress. We have learn...

Re: He ran aground in front of me!

Sorry I didn’t have the stamina to read all the post as they seemed to follow the usual trend of each armchair admiral being wiser than than the one before.
Do non of you realise that the b so way...
