For mine, the optimal OB set-up, would be the set-up that addresses the shortcomings of having an outboard.
I agree with boatman61 and others, hanging on a bracket off the transom isn't the optimal...

For most cruising sailors..ie sailing downwind, I think the junk rig is an ideal rig, quick, easy reefing (which is often needed on many trips) is so easy, the ability to reef & maintain your course...

I live 160km Sth of Bongil Beach NSW, it couldn't of washed up on a more remote part of the NSW coast, very few recreational sailors in those waters at the moment, in any case it would have been good...
