Re: Any early retirees turned cruisers with big careers have regrets?

Oh no... I fear for what lies ahead now that this thread has been brought back and feeding has resumed. :smiling:

That said, I second strongly (having worked full time as wanted/needed from a van...

Re: What happens to all the wannabees?

Nope... this IS you moving forward.

Maybe you get this boat, maybe you don't... but you already took the step forward (meaning even if it's not this boat, it will be soon enough because you just...

Re: Bali Catamaran Owners

I’m certainly sorry to hear that you’ve had trouble with the charter company, but I’m not sure it’s relevant to someone looking to buy a Bali to live on.

Best of luck getting everything worked out!

Re: Solar at Anchor

Wow, that’s a lot of solar to be struggling.
We do pretty well with less (though always want more).

Most important question might be, where’s “here”.
If your in higher latitudes or the Pacific...

Re: Laser Rangefinder Anyone use for anchoring?

We use one all the time!

Affordable little “golf rangefinder” that is terrific for making sure the distance to shore/rocks/other boats etc is greater than our swing radius.

Obviously not always...

Re: Med Mooring opportunities in the Carribean/Bahamas?

Id say you can seek out/find plenty of opportunities in most any island chain.
Certainly in the Bahamas if you're looking for something nearby.
All you need is a beach and a tree... if you wish...

Re: Outside opinions on cats. What would you choose?

We'd choose the Bali... but that's probably because we did chose the Bali (though a 4.0) and have been thrilled!

Yes, it's a floating condo, but lets be clear... both of your options are - and the...

Re: Game Changers

Maybe its because we never leave the Caribbean, but I would move fans WAY higher up the list.

My key addition: ICE!

Also, while certainly not their one, a major game changer for us is...

Re: So.... You want to cruise on a sailboat

I’m assuming (okay, hoping) that this is tongue in cheek or full on joking... but in case it’s not-

Taking a weeklong vacation on a boat isn’t cruising. You could have decided to take a week off...

Re: Share Your Drone Loss Stories

Sigh... we've lost a couple now.

First drone was a phantom that a friend left aboard for us after returning home.
Was terrified to fly it and then one night on anchor there was this magnificent...

Re: Basic ebay solar kit for a boat?

Just be aware you're looking at "cheap" solar kits, meaning you'll be getting cheap components with it.

As others have stated, maybe not a bad way to get into your initial setup, get everything...

As far as boat lists go... thats prettify short (of course, they only get longer not shorter)! :thumb:

Highly recommend going further than Key West and (at least) to the Bahamas.
You just made...

I guess we see this the other way.

Re: Cheap slip/dock in the Caribbean
