Ya good advise thats ..what i meant was thermostats housing is very hard to reach on the boat...looks like one head is hotter than the other so might be plugged |

Thanks drew that's next on the list...impeller cover was worn so flipped it around and now cleaning exhaust elbow but looks good ...they have some kind of valve union in the water injection line... |

Well right or wrong basically I was asking what the outside temp might be on the cylinder heads . Thermostat housing is very difficult to get to in my boat. And there doest seem to be enough water... |

Have an md11c raw water cooled that is new to us. Had water in the oil , replaced a few parts and cured. But the temp gauge isn't working and engine seems to run hot so put an infra red temp gun on... |

Ok here it is ...2 hour shakedown water test went well no water in the oil . However might have an overheat issue . Temp gauge went on the blink and died might be sending unit , anyway pulled out the... |

Update on water intrusion. Replaced o rings in the block only. Did seals in impeller housing . Replaced after market head gasket with originals. And cleaned up exhaust manifold for better gasket... |

right Martin another post mentioned the same about the head gasket source. I also found leakage from one exhaust gasket but not sure how much would enter the crankcase if any. Today we put it back... |

Thanks Martin..hard to pressure test the liners but I did have them off and they held water ok with no leaks. Bought new o rings but finding it difficult to find a good mechanic to replace them with... |

Head studs are threaded into the block ok...and no water passages in the block at all on the md11 |

Sea water yes...manifold tested positive...maybe a small leak in the gasket but water came in at 1 litre an hour |

Bought an 82 323 pearson with an engine prob. Head was rusted inside leaking water into combustion chamber , replaced the head to find water now filling the crankcase and pressurising the raw water... |
