Re: Sabre 34 MKII Targa
Different interior layout. Main difference is that you get an extra aft cabin instead of a storage area that is on a regular MKII. |

Re: B&G Zeus 2 Troubleshooting
Mine does the opposite - when you zoom in channel markers disappear. Zoom out a click, and they are back. Done the latest firmware update, restarts...etc. |

B&G Zeus 2 Troubleshooting
I have a B&G Zeus 2 9" chartplotter with C-Maps that is about 3-4 years old. It worked flawlessly during my original voyage from Annapolis to Wilmington, loved it. Few years later I moved the boat to... |

Looking for an older Bluewater or Carver
So my father-in-law is looking for an older 40'ish foot powerboat to live on. Something along the lines of Bluewater Yacht, or a Carver 3750. Very strong preference for dual diesel propulsion. This... |

Re: YANMAR RUNAWAY! Lessons Learned...
Understanding how to quickly kill a diesel is important. A rag over the air intake will stop the runaway issue. I have never experienced such a failure, but I know the fastest way to get to air... |

Re: Help identify the boat?
Thanks, I was going to guess that it is about 30-35 footer. If a wave-runner is about 10 feet in length, and usually pilings are 8-10' apart that would make that boat in a 30-35' range. |

Help identify the boat?
Anyone know what this boat is. Mainly size and draft that I am trying to figure out. https://photos.zillowstatic.com/fp/1a79819d111812ece5452b6f78599708-uncropped_scaled_within_1536_1152.jpg ... |

Re: No water maker no drink?
We didn't drink tank water while sailing the chartered boat in Greece. Not to say that you can't. Gut feeling is not too. My .02 |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
The moral of the story is that the performance of different boats will vary. Easing the main, moving the traveller is all good and all, and I would of done what I could if there was time to react.... |

Re: Airbnb wants to visit you.
Sure there will be little initial income generated, which would pale in comparison to the damage & repair bill. |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
This sounds about what was happening. Definitely turned in an instant. I am guessing a modern wide transom boats with single rudder are all like that then. To be honest, I don't ever pay attention to... |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
Didn't even cross my mind. I never reefed a boat unless it's close to 30 knots. |

Re: Airbnb wants to visit you.
I don't understand who in their right mind would Airbnb their boat to total strangers? My check list when I leave my boat is rather intensive. I would trust a close friend who is hands on familiar... |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
Yes, traveller was setup for a broad reach that I was on. Boom was nicely out and matching the Genoa angle nicely. I was behind the helm and the traveller lines were on top of the cockpit. Before I... |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
You are absolutely correct, my personal Sabre 34 has a much shorter boom, and is currently setup with a big Genoa. My pervious boat was an older Catalina 27, but it sailed in alot of ways similar to... |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
Jim, you are probably right - boat probably rounded up as it stood up. Happened very quickly to really have time to ease travelers or make trim adjustments. I doubt the bottom or rudder is... |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
That is above my tuning knowledge. I do not recall the mast being easily adjustable. It was never tuned as far as I know. Interesting to experiment with next time. I am not very familiar... |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
I can't say for sure what size Genoa it was, but it was not a large one. In fact it was rather small compared to what I am usually used to. Barely any overlap. |

Re: Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
I must add that everything was setup to what I would do on my boats. Position of the blocks, sail shapes were decent, nothing was odd about the 4 year old Catalina. But it will just point into the... |

Uncontrollable pointing into the wind in a minor blow
I was sailing my friends Catalina 315 last weekend near Charleston. Its is a very nice, well maintained boat with original sails - 150 (guessing) genoa, and a in-mast main. Weather was great and a... |
