Re: Good Laptop for Onboard?

240GB SSD is just 35$ and huge performance+safety bump up. On planet Earth if 35$ is a symbol of "something" posh, probably time to see your doctor.

Re: Good Laptop for Onboard?

Get one with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processor, e.g. Acer Swift 3 (SF314-42-R9YN) or Lenovo ThinkPad E14/E15. Both at around 650$.

Re: Rugged phone as backup plotter?

This is a total BS. I have AGM A9 with 5400 mAh battery and charge it every 3 days with moderate everyday use. Constant GPS connection drains battery and it has nothing to do with phone price.

Re: NKE vs B&G Zeus

Just in case... our NKE windmill was blown away in 50-55 knots of wind, so I would suggest to keep a spare one board.

Re: NKE vs B&G Zeus

NKE is mainly used by offshore racers (mostly french) with fancy and high-end pieces, e.g. HR/Regatta Processors and 3D Sensors. On a cruising side it is reliable stuff, but from my perspective is...

Upgrade with top-down furler for your asymmetric. We use single Karver KSF top-down furler for asymmetric and gennaker.
