No, I think I'm one of the poorer ones on here. Even talk of a 50K boat is like visions of sugarplum fairies dancing to me.

But my point was more along the lines of 40 years of boating, in and around multiple marinas, blah blah blah, and I have never seen a boat that sank because of a "failed"...

I would call Catalina. My understanding is that they are pretty knowledgeable about their own boats. They may have records of your particular hull number.
