I will add to my post and the wisdom and EXPERIENCE of others that a test kit is very cheap... just use the dip paper. Lasts a long time but keep it dry.

I use a digital or hand held mechanical tach when I set the output power and max RPM on an engine using the fuel pump... I enjoy having lots of instruments to observe details about engine function...
