Re: The rest of the story

I agree. As a pilot, I am consistently honing my skills and keeping them current. I don’t want pilots with low time or not current in bad weather looking for me. This is a great training...

Re: Heat exchanger in an old boat

Thanks all! I feel much better and will go with it as is (except for new anodes). The low time of the engine makes me want to save it and pile a bunch of hours on it running around and having fun!

Re: AIS different brands any good??

The Matsutec does comply with part 80 and part 15. The sticking point with the first units was that the MMSI number could be reprogrammed, if you made a mistake. That was the only issue with it....

Re: AIS different brands any good??

I have a Matsutec and absolutely love it! I have a GROL, so programming it was legal for me, but you are supposed to have a licensed person do it. You won’t be sorry with this unit . It does...

Re: Lightning protection for you boat

A question in the general radio operators test for the FCC asks what type of lightning protection works best for direct hits to a mast. The correct answer is nothing can protect against a direct...

Re: Will Sailboats Still Be Made in 30 Years?

Sailing is not always about how much you spend on silly gadgets. It is about freedom and simplicity.

I have heard the promises about better panels for decades, yet they still have extremely...

Re: Will Sailboats Still Be Made in 30 Years?

Wind generators will not provide the energy you need to sail. Sail boats will be around.

Re: Yet another way to create drinkable water, pulling it from the air

Reality does come into play on occasion though. Solar energy per square foot and water content of atmosphere certainly limit the amount of water per day. We all want the perpetual motion machine to...

Re: Metric system dumbs us down.

Base eight? I remember those dec days! I don't think there has been a base eight computer made in decades. We are showing our age when we even know about base eight over the common hexadecimal...
