Re: Fuel metering options

I guess this flowmeter would not be suitable for your installation as it is below the specs quoted.
the units you say may employ a different technology to sense the low flow rate.
I would suggest...

Re: Fuel metering options

Found this website Futurlec, The Electronic Components and Semiconductor Superstore (https://www.futurlec.com) and they have the following Part listed at US$32.90

Re: Chinese boat engines

Some observations about Chinese Manufacture.
They will make anything you want for whatever price you want to pay.

What can they engineer out to meet that price?

If it has a 12 month...

Re: how to install starting relay

Dymaxion, I agree with what you say, however, as the OP states, "Yanmar 3GM30 afflicted by the well-known voltage drop issue in the starting circuit". If this is a well known problem, perhaps Yanmar...

Re: how to install starting relay

You will need to wire the new relay in series with the existing Starter solenoid input (the White wire)
Hopefully the attached will explain this.
Essentially, mount the relay as necessary, closer...

Re: New Beta Marine won't start. Sat for 2 years.

just a couple of things that may help?
If the boat is in Oz, being winter, you may need to give it plenty of heat to get the engine to fire. Confirm the glow plugs are working. You should see a drop...

Re: Maintenance Logbook Software

Hi, this may be a partial solution for you? It will certainly help with the Maint side of what you are looking for. I use an Appp from a company called Safeyculture. App = iAuditor.
This will allow...

Re: 12V Power meter

It really depends on the outcome you want to achieve. If you are looking for instantaneous values, perhaps the clamp meter is a better option as you can move it around and easy to clamp onto...

Re: Convert from 240 VAC to 120 VAC

Dave, seeing as there are only a few appliances on board, it may be easier to change these. If they are plug in, then you may have an issue with the socket outlets etc (if you change to US Sockets)....

Re: Northern Lights M673 generator issue starting

As per the previous comment, if the Oil is Milky in color, you have water contamination. You need to identify where this water is coming from before running the Engine. Is it sea water cooled or Heat...

Re: Generator AVR

The reason why the Voltage is much better with the Hot water is due to the Power Factor. the Hot water element is purely resistive and has a PF of 1 (unity). When you run the A/c, this will have a...

Re: Noisy generator

Assuming there is no inherent problems with vibration from the Engine/ Gen itself, You may want to check the Engine Mounts (Vibration dampers) of the Mini40 unit. Over time, these will loose their...

Re: LED light conversions

I would agree with all the comments made here, particularly the interference caused by 'less expensive' LED's. Generally you can buy a LED Lamp as a direct replacement for a incandescent lamp, but as...

Thumbs up Re: Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Thanks KeelMe, I'll have a look. With any sort of luck, it may work. Just keep an eye out for Murphy.

Re: Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Thanks KeelMe, we typically use our boat for sailing around the bay and overnight stays at the islands etc so a new A/P in Aust is around $1100, so justifying the expense can be a little difficult....

Re: Solar Panel and Shading

Either way would work. Can I suggest that if you are going to purchase panels, that you use a higher voltage panel, say nominal 24v rather than a 12v panel. You will get a little bit of extra charge...

Navico TP300C Tillerpilot Fluxgate

Re: Rec: end-current cutoff at low amps

Hi John, unit looks like it's got everything in it.
Still think you will run into the same problems. Accuracy is +/- 1.5% +/- Least significant digit. To me that means it could be anywhere from -1.5...

Re: Rec: end-current cutoff at low amps

This may be a simple solution to the current sensing side of the equation.
Have a look at the Allegro ACS758 / 759 Hall effect Current sensor. They do up to 200A in a combined unit, but options to...

Re: Rec: end-current cutoff at low amps

Sorry, I thought you were looking for some type of charger. If you require just a switch as per these items you suggested below, then possibly use a 3pole Contactor (with 12VDC Coil?) and parallel...

Re: Holding tank monitoring options?

This should do the trick as well. You can use a Capacitive Prox sensor mounted on the outside of the tank. This particular one has a M18 thread, so if you can glue a M18 plastic (non Metallic) socket...
