Leopard 48 charging circuit: combining engine & house banks

Hi all,
I’m working on a Leopard 48 and hope someone may have some experience. The engines are NOT charging the house. I cannot located a battery isolator or a ACR anywhere on this vessel.

I...

Re: Random: anyone know of a good portable work bench/desk

Ok ignore the paint shaker! I just ordered a handful of drill attachments and will see how they perform. I’ll check out the black and decker link. Thx all

I am looking or a portable work bench/desk that can hold a paint shaker, grinding wheel, and a vice. Needs to be able to be beefy enough to operate those devices and collapsible or portable enough...

How do I test for AC fault leakage?

Do I just put a clamp meter on one of my grounding wires and measure current. Marina requires less than 100 milliamps of leakage and I can’t figure out how to test AC with the Google. DC I’ve...

I’ve had no luck with these remaining attached under any kind of load, time, or vibration.

Re: What epoxy to hold zip tie holders?

I’ll give the Plexus stuff a try. Just worried about the set time; and the fridge storage. I keep all my tools in a work van and will definitely forget the glue in my fridge when I leave in the...

What epoxy to hold zip tie holders?

Evening folks,

I am searching for a good epoxy that can hold zip tie holders in a boat to hold wires. I need an epoxy that cures very fast (30 seconds?) and preferably one that is available in...

Re: Perkins 4108 loosing coolant, another thread

I’ll add this to my list for when I get back to the States. I’ve judged why my cruising RPM is using a combination of the tach and the coolant temp gauge.

My 4108 has a 100A Balmar attached to...

Re: Perkins 4108 loosing coolant, another thread

Arrived in Guadeloupe. Unfortunately, the weather was spectacular and we sailed the 50Nm with less than an hour of engine time. No overheating and no loss of coolant.

Think all is well.

Re: How do I set up these jib car sheet holder thingies?

I have a staysail that is not rigged, however, there is a whole other track that I believe is for that. It’s on the deck, closer to the center of the boat. I could very well be wrong. I have not...

Re: How do I set up these jib car sheet holder thingies?

I’ll have to play around with it tomorrow if the weather permits. The prior owners were racers (unlike me, slow cruiser). The aft half of the jib car track is labeled with numbers on the deck and...

How do I set up these jib car sheet holder thingies?

Good afternoon Cruisersforum,

I’ve sailed my boat about 2000NM into the wind along the Thorny Path from Florida to Antigua. Tomorrow I get to sail on a beam or even broad reach to Guadeloupe. ...

Re: Perkins 4108 loosing coolant, another thread

I guess I was running it at 1550 or so RPM at the dock. Not 1850. Never really read the gauge until just now, lol. I regard cruising RPM of 1550 normal and 1850 (slightly over next line) as...

Re: Perkins 4108 loosing coolant, another thread

Update, looking good still.

1. I ran the engine for a little bit, and then drained all the lime cleaner water that I had in there. I then ran a gallon or two of water thru the block until...

Wanted to finish up this thread with what I’m quite sure was the problem.

Re: Perkins 4108 loosing coolant, another thread

I (think) I get how these are supposed to install. There is a groove in the boot that the heat exchanger butts up against. The problem is that, at least with my engine and heat exchanger, if I line...

Re: Perkins 4108 loosing coolant, another thread

What I did today. Cautiously optimistic. Pics to follow in next post or two.

1. I topped off the coolant with lime away and some radiator cleaner, water. Started it to a small puff of white...
