Dometic macerator pump noise

Hello,

My boat came with a Dometic toilet and macerator pump and I'm trying to tell if it's operating normally. It seems quite loud for a pump but this is my first time ever hearing a macerator,...

Re: Pulley alignment; serpentine belt dust

Thanks! I've been debating getting one but they were all thousands of dollars. Can you share the details of the one you got?

Re: Pulley alignment; serpentine belt dust

Thanks for the reply and advice. I will go back and triple check the later alignment.

Also,

- I added a few photos showing what I mean by dusting, it's particularly evident on the red...

Pulley alignment; serpentine belt dust

Hello, I have a Universal M35-B with the Balmar Alt-Mount serpentine kit and I've been trying to diagnose what feels like excessive belt dusting to me. I was under the impression that serpentines...

Re: Stiff shifting on Hurth

Thanks everyone. It was indeed a cable that needed lubrication.

I had to disassemble the Edson pedestal and lube the cable that way. It was kind of a nightmare. No gaskets were used between the...

Re: Stiff shifting on Hurth

The cable is secured as best I can tell, but I will go back today and check more. The lever from the helm is relatively smooth if the cable is disconnected (again unfortunately I lack a comparison to...

Re: Stiff shifting on Hurth

It's hard to know how old the cable is, potentially original. I will have to research that process.

My main hesitation there is that I can't yet pinpoint if it's the cable or the shifter arm....

Stiff shifting on Hurth

Shifting gears on my Hurth HBW-150 v-drive transmission has become incredibly stiff. I lubed the cable yesterday and it didn't see much improvement.

Over the winter I replaced the oil seal on the...

Re: M35b coolant leak at lower thermostat housing

I spoke with a local mechanic and he recommended the following:

1. Drain the coolant and spray carb cleaner in the bolt hole and wait a few days for it to totally dry out
2. Replace the bolt and...

M35b coolant leak at lower thermostat housing

I've finally traced a coolant link, it's occurring at my lower thermostat housing.

The gasket seems to have failed in multiple places, including around one of the bolts which has significant...

Re: M35B alternator bracket bolt "leaks" coolant

To close the loop on this thread if people find it later, I went with the mantra "if it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing"

To secure the new Balmar adjustment arm to the engine using the two...

Re: M35B alternator bracket bolt "leaks" coolant

Sorry to bump my own thread but I'm about to finish mounting the alternator and wondering if I should be concerned by the single engine bolt that connects the new balmar mounting bracket, given that...

Re: M35B alternator bracket bolt "leaks" coolant

Did you crack the long adjustment bracket above the alternator or the small "ear" at the bottom? I've heard of the small ear getting broken but my engine is 2006 so I'm hoping (naively?) that it's an...

Re: M35B alternator bracket bolt "leaks" coolant

Naturally I hope you're right, and this does seem logical based on what I've noticed. Is there typically some kind of gasket of material at these joints? Indeed when I torque the bolt back in it...

M35B alternator bracket bolt "leaks" coolant

This is one of those posts that I worry is either a big deal or nothing at all.

On my (new to me) Universal M35B I'm replacing the stock alternator with a Balmar alternator and UBB adjustment...

Re: Reinforcing fiberglass to mount a TV

Thanks all. One thing I should mention is that fiberglass it's mounted to right now doesn't seem like it was meant to support anywhere near these loads, even with a backing plate. It's a very thin...

Reinforcing fiberglass to mount a TV

Hopefully I don't get too much grief for putting a small TV in our sailboat. It gets dark pretty early this time of year.

I've attached some photos of the current temporary setup, which...

I did a stupid thing to my SpeedSeal impeller cover

As others have noted in previous threads it's a bummer that this company is out of business, so I'm not sure if I've "ruined" my SpeedSeal or maybe I'm overreacting.

I pulled the cover for the...

Re: NMEA 0183 help (Lowrance primarily)

I should add that I'm not concerned about getting AIS data on the Lowrance Elite-5. I don't think it supports it anyway, and I use Navionics as my main chart software.

So my question about...

Re: NMEA 0183 help (Lowrance primarily)

Thanks for the help smac999.

You raise a good question about why I bought a NMEA 0183 wind transducer. I can see if the wind transducer I bought can be returned (I haven't installed it yet), and...

Re: Completely seized nut on engine mount

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm going to go ahead and just replace both rear mounts. I don't think they are quite 30 years old, but they are at least 10. Should I also replace the forward mounts?...

Re: Completely seized nut on engine mount

No, I haven't ordered a new mount as of yet. I guess I was optimistic that the threads might be saved.

Someone else asked if I plan to just replace the whole mount and I am hesitant to do that...
