An open beach where you can see your dink, and what's happening around it isn't the issue. What I have found is when we go on a dedicated hike, we often land the boat near a structure or some point...

Thanks for your concern. I know things will eventually change in the Bahamas, just sorry to see it happening in my lifetime.

I think we will be OK with an 8. I've got 50k blue water miles sailing, set 15 state 9 national and 3 world records racing powerboats...

The 11'-7" boat I designed and built that weighs 86 pounds...

My son got his Irwin 33 in the lower end of that price range. She's a good heavy boat (which you want when you get in that size boat) He's in the Bahamas now and very satisfied with his little ship.
