Re: Advice re diesel engine with rusty oil pan

A64 Pilot, little query on your rust treatment. If you encapsulate the rust, do you not deprive it of the oxygen it requires to grow? The inside is protected by the oil swirling around.Mind your eyes...

Re: Collision Avoidance, Cones of Uncertainty, and Appropriate CPA

evm1024, bit biased to quote Restricted versus GREAT LAKES data? I would think it pretty obvious that the concentrated line of traffic in Ontario is quite simply the shortest route.
Lodesman, I...

Re: Collision Avoidance, Cones of Uncertainty, and Appropriate CPA

Exile 754,755, as DH has not replied to my post,I will give you my view. The Tanker started blowing her whistle 15 to 20 secs before collision (approx) which suggests a late decision by the sailboat...

Dh I don't understand the waffle that you did not write the post I quoted 576. You then go on to justify your remark and fail to advise/respond to my question as to why you repeated your incorrect...

Re: Collision Avoidance, Cones of Uncertainty, and Appropriate CPA

TJ, I am not saying that 20KN vessels do not happen. In fact the container ships come first for potential speed up to 25Kn, followed by Cruise ships at 22 to 24Kn, the reduced running speed is as a...

Re: Anyone know what this handle is made to crank?

If the design is for engageing in both directions it is not for an engine, no one want's their arm to be rotated by the engine if the handle does not disengage. The basic design was for a handle with...

Re: Sailboat collisions - Can responsibility be shared?

Can anybody out there translate Jim Cates post to me No 33 as it would seem he is not going to reply to me, particularly "See, I can do it too," or is that just a very childish remark?
