Re: Aventura 44 Information

I was wandering around Marina Genoa today and spotted one. I had not seen one before. It looked a little odd to me, but can't put my finger on why. Very square looking, but not in a completely good...

Genoa Boat Show

Am headed to the Genoa Boat Show next week. Want to check out the smaller cats - Excess 11. I don't know if the Nautitech 40 will be there (I think it is). Not sure Seawind will be there either.

Re: Will the Big 3 Cat Builders offer Boom Furling?

I have a boom furler on my mono and our next boat will probably be a cat and I do wish we could keep the boom furler! I single hand a lot and it hugely simplifies reefing to the point that it's so...

Re: Considering purchasing a Nautitech 475 catamaran

Looks like a fun boat! Financially I agree it would be hard to go wrong - you can't depreciate much more than that. Even if you did, it wouldn't be that much compared to just about any other cat....

Re: New Seawind Model - Announcement July 10

Yes, that's true - but there's just something about lounging in the cockpit outside in any boat. Even on production catamarans with big doors, we find ourselves spending most time in the cockpit,...

Re: New Seawind Model - Announcement July 10

Seawinds look like great boats, but where do you get comfortable in the cockpit? If I can't slouch down in the cockpit of any boat at anchor and comfortably take a nap when I should be fixing...

MicHughV - I have to disagree with you on all fronts, but only to prove your point.

Re: The stupidest/funniest mistakes you've made?

Here's one that just happened this morning - so I guess it's never ending.

Was retrieving my boat from a canvas shop and was docking single handed, as I have done 50-60 times. When I stepped off...

Re: The stupidest/funniest mistakes you've made?

When preparing a boat for a day charter I was in the saloon with my daughter. I decided to test the air horn in the saloon. It worked fine - my daughter never forgave me.

On a cat charter I...

Re: Catamaran with leisurefurl

Paul, I am also curious about in-boom furling on a cat. I have a Schaefer system on our monohull and love it. I noted that someone in the other thread note that many cats can't take a big boom vang...

Re: Croatia Cruising Guide

Hey BellaSailor, thanks very much! Sounds like you enjoy the area!

We've chartered catamarans in Mexico and the Bahamas, where the anchoring has been pretty easy. We sail in San Francisco, where...

Croatia Cruising Guide

Hello, does anyone have a recommendation for a cruising guide for Croatia? I'll be chartering there this next Summer out of Split.

Also, if you have any favorite anchorages in the area. Which...

Re: Firefly AGM Batteries (3) G31

Back in May I bought an older Catalina 42 and it was my understanding that the batteries were pretty old. I bought four of these batteries at a slight discount thinking I'd reconfigure my battery...

Re: Bareboat Charter Broker Recommendation - Croatia

Dennis, did you happen to identify a good cruising guide for the Dalmatian islands?

Re: Fountaine pajot salina 48

I will add that it was fun to jump off that platform and into the water - kind of a diving platform off the stern. As for the height of the dingy, I don't remember, but that's easily confirmed with a...

Re: Fountaine pajot salina 48

John, for us, we didn't use the platform for anything and I remember wondering if there was a way to do away with it, but it's integral to the structure, I believe. I don't know if they all had them,...

Re: Fountaine pajot salina 48

We chartered a Salina 48 in the Bahamas years ago and thought it worked pretty well for what it was. The only weird thing about it is that platform hanging off the back that serves as davits for the...

Bareboat Charter Broker Recommendation - Croatia

Am wondering if anyone has a broker they can recommend. We are specifically looking to charter a catamaran 45-50 feet this next summer - bareboat. I've chartered directly with Moorings and DYC in...

Re: Why not in boom furling on multi hulls?

I'm so glad to run into this thread. I love in-boom furling for its infinite settings and with an electric winch it's child's play. My wife also loves it because we reef and unreef far more often,...

Re: ....And Then Reality Hits

I bought a boat a few months ago - felt the same way. Was the surveyor asleep? I think so. Did everyone (brokers, us, seller) want to get the deal done? Yup. Could I have known more? Yup. My to-do...

Re: New Excess Catamaran Brand

Doesn't this boat seem kind of heavy given its intention? At 48 feet it's over 18T. Or am I missing something? The Nautitech 46 is 12T and the Saona 47 is 14T. I know these numbers can be...
