Re: Perkins M30 is this motor legitimate?

This issue still hasn't been completely resolved.
And dodging around the last month's fires and smoke hasn't helped.
However as suggested by some of you Parts 4 Engines in the UK have been great...

Re: Perkins M30 is this motor legitimate?

Yes I swapped a few emails with Shane at Noordeman, he doesn't have parts for any engine without an engine number he knows.

He even suggested it's a Chinese copy.

Re: Perkins M30 is this motor legitimate?

I can only find empty promises in Australia. If there was only one engine of this specification produced, even if it was sometimes rebranded, surely there are pistons available somewhere.

12 years ago I bought a Beneteau from an American owner and soon after found broken piston rings in one cylinder. After buying...

Re: Seeking practical radar repair

Certainly a cheaper option but no way to see how many hours (if any) might be left in the replacement before parting with the money.

Too many batteries

I'm sure this subject must have been discussed on this forum but I can find no mention of it.
I have a bank of house batteries and a start battery, that means I have dual output on the mains...

Seeking practical radar repair

I have a Furuno radar that failed last year and as I suspected was diagnosed as a dead magnetron, even though the hours logged was half its expected life.
A new magnetron is $900 in Australia for...

Re: China Sail Factory Beware

And are you really a current sailmaker?
Australia hasn't used the American system of measurement for 50 years. If that's the type of measurements you sent them perhaps they got confused.
I've...

Bringing the boat home

I have purchased a boat overseas and because I'm Australian I took out an Australian registration for it.
Now after 10 years of cruising it is time to return home and import my boat.

A New...

Re: Inmarsat Isatphone satellite connection issues

On review my post looks like my contacts with GMN were ignored.
Nothing could be further from the truth, there were close to 100 emails backwards and forwards with even Luis, the owner manager...

Thumbs down Re: Inmarsat Isatphone satellite connection issues

I'll second that "get a refund" answer.
I ordered an active antenna, Isatdock, prepayed SIM and XGate software from Global Marine Networks for my Isatphone Pro.
It's been 2 weeks of almost daily...

Re: Open CPM GPS instability

Finally solved the problem. Dave was right. the driver for the GPS was the culprit.
On upgrading the driver for this device Windows was reporting the most recent driver was already installed, but...

Re: Open CPM GPS instability

Thanks for your help Dave. Yes when underway OCPM loses the GPS. The small LED is still flashing on the dongle but OCPM's boat icon has gone grey. This is when nothing but OCPM is running on the...

Re: Open CPM GPS instability

I have a round magnetic base dongle with no brand that uses the Prolific USB to serial driver. I also have a ND 100S GPS stick that uses the same driver.
Both these produce the same problem.

Open CPM GPS instability

Some time ago I upgraded to CPM v4 on a Windows 7 laptop. The GPS crashed repeatedly after 4 or 5 hours running and required removing and re inserting the GPS's USB to get it going again.
Recently I...
