Re: Diesel conversion fuel tank

So I should just mount the hose as high as I can so the return doesn't go out it instead of back into the tank

Yeah not the best design.

Diesel conversion fuel tank

I recently purchased a sailboat that had a diesel inboard added after market. It was definitely a diy job but it does work. I admit I'm a newbie to diesels but I'm trying to learn as fast as I can....

12v + 24v

My son came up and asked me what is the simplest way for him to add solar to his electrical system. His boat is small (weekender) and has very little demand. Just lights, music (12v) and a trolling...

Re: 12v or 24v

Thanks everyone for the great info. Think i'll go with 2 12v panels in series. It seems to be the better way to go. plus as a bonus its a tiny bit cheaper

Re: 12v or 24v

The weird thing is both 12v and 24v panels are the same physical size. Both rated at 100w just one model is 12v and the other is 24v

12v or 24v

Just wondering if there is any difference between wiring 2 24v (100w) panels in parallel or wiring 2 12v (100w) in series. I need 24v in the end.

Re: Delaware / Virginia inland route.

Thanks thats what I figured. I saw a row of buoys using google satellite but I still had my doubts. I'll just go offshore in good weather and if it turns bad I'll just have to duck into a inlet.

Re: Mppt backwards

The Genasun would work fine except its only 8A. On a bright sunny day I should be able to produce more than that. Shouldn't I?

Re: Mppt backwards

Wow lots of info, Thanks a lot guys! The reason I don't wire it in series (I have 4X250w at 36v) is if I do it at 72 volts to 48 volts. I cant find a Mppt that has a input of more than 60 volts...
