Re: Vetus diesel shakes at idle

Make sure all 4 cylinders are firing. If you're missing one it'll run rougher and vibrate more. You can open the compression release per cylinder and see if one doesn't affect the operation, that's...

Re: Pearson 303 - Miami $30k

Yes it does, the back cushion can be used to make a flat "queen" bed when pulled out.

Re: Pearson 303 - Miami $30k

Sorry about the poor interior photos, but it's just from our gallery so not "styled" for selling as the decision was made to sell while away from the boat.

Anything else to recommend, ideally less of an inland detour?

Re: Seaflo Raw Water Strainer - Improvement?

Nice! I'm excited to test this Vetus one, seems like a better design, hopefully arrives one of the next days!

The Groco ARG style strainer is exactly what I removed 2 years ago, to get it...

Re: Seaflo Raw Water Strainer - Improvement?

Vetus had a few different models, both seemed better than the Seaflo one I have.
The FTR140 has exactly the design i suggested, where the inlet is raised 3/4 to the top of the chamber or so.

Re: Seaflo Raw Water Strainer - Improvement?

Interesting, that's exactly what I had in mind! I'll look into Vetus, the seaflo was very cheap, but it seals really well even after a few years. A generic o ring would be the only wear piece.

Seaflo Raw Water Strainer - Improvement?

Our raw water strainer clogged yesterday limiting the flow enough to raise the coolant temperature a bit before we noticed.
Since it's above the waterline with a clear top of was a straight forward...

Re: Raspberry Pi as an AIS Transponder

Uploading your position and AIS information would do nothing to make boats around you see them on their AIS, it wouldn't go out on the VHF band at all, just be on their site. So unless your goal is...

Re: Shaft coupling set screws - Shape/wear

Yes, it's definitely the set screw, but the point is completely worn down as it worked its way out. That way my initial question basically, "shouldn't these have a protrusion to go into the dimple"....

Re: Shaft coupling set screws - Shape/wear

Pretty sure it's the original set screws phorvati & BillKny, sure looks like set screws, got square heads and holes in them for the seize wire.

The question was what the tip was supposed to look...

Re: Shaft coupling set screws - Shape/wear

Very ominous responses, but no worries, the shaft is looking nice and smooth (besides the dimples), and it was a very snug fit taking quite some convincing to put back together.
So i guess there's...

Shaft coupling set screws - Shape/wear

My prop shaft came out on me yesterday after a test run in reverse on a mooring, a mild heart attack after seeing all the water come in I'm out there to put it back together.
Set screws came out...

Re: GPS Transmitter/ security

For what it's worth, mine is getting good signal on the inside of my propane locker in the cockpit. The 4-5mm thick cover doesn't seem to affect performance.
