Re: FP Helia Help, please.

Solved. Float switch. Uber’d to a marine supply store and picked up another one. Will be back in business soon. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Re: FP Helia Help, please.

Arrived to pick up a 2013 Helia and deliver it to the new owner. On the 12 volt panel in the port stairwell just below the nav station there is a switch labeled Sea Water Pump. There is a distinct...

Re: WifFi Signal

We had the same situation as you, great service up on deck but not down in the cabin, and we tried several approaches. In the end, we settled on a cheap wifi range extender from Best Buy for service...

Re: Extra Cruising Cost for a "Big" Boat

Yep. Sails and rigging vs diesel fuel costs. You're going to pay one way or the other. Comes down to a choice between quiet travel and heeling over or roomy comfort and making so much ice that we...

Re: Extra Cruising Cost for a "Big" Boat

Re: Extra Cruising Cost for a "Big" Boat

Truth. Wanderlust ain't no lightweight.

Side note: We did a 500+ round trip tour down to the Keys back in June. I'm happy to report we recorded a solid 5.3 gallons per hour average over...

Re: Cruising - Bahamas, the North or South - Summer of 2021

Hey Mark,

Palmetto, FL here.

June and part of July in the Bahamas will be toasty and always holds the potential for an early-season hurricane. April through June might be nicer, if you can...

Re: Successor to ActiveCaptain?

We are still big believers in ActiveCaptain and still contribute to it. We're east coasters.

How to removed dinghy steering wheel?

We have a center console Rendova. It has a five spoke, stainless steel steering wheel. The davit cable caught the back of the wheel when lifting it recently and popped three of the five spoke out of...

Re: electronics compatibility question

You don't need to be all one brand in order to get everything talking. But sometimes it takes a little fiddling. I have a Simrad autopilot and a Garmin chartplotter and they work quite well...

Re: Water Use at Slip

We are in a slip and fill our tanks from marina water. We shower aboard, do laundry aboard, and have freshwater toilets. We do have shower shut off valves for Navy showers, which I use but Mrs...

Re: air conditioner discharge splash

A guy in our marina squeezed a six inch-long section of plastic hose in his a/c output so he could direct the outflow. Works great for him. Might work for you, too.

Re: Decadence

Yeah, ice. We run our icemaker two to three times per week (and never get sick). Also, an air-conditioned office with full-tilt wifi. Very grateful for what we have.

Re: Enhance Weak Marina WI-FI

You're welcome. During the setup process, you have the ability to rename the zone the extender creates. Let's say your marina is using the very common OnSpotWifi. You connect the extender to...
