Re: replacing through hulls in water

Hmmm my seacocks have no bolts. In the bronze casting there is provisions for two bolts but none are there just the hull, block of wood, and casting. They are all this way and I'm pretty sure factory...

replacing through hulls in water

I've seen videos and talked to a few sailors that have said and explained replacing through hull fittings while in the water. Seems to be quite a few videos of swapping out transducers in water. Of...

Re: Looking for advice on a major refit

Yes the passage to Galveston is more than I trust the boat so I'm having the boat hauled on land to Galveston. Iast two fights on southwest were 110 one way. Add my wife and two kids, hotel, and food...

Re: Looking for advice on a major refit

Quotes have come in for hauling on land to Texas. Looks like 5.5 to 6k. I'm looking at keeping her at Galveston as it's a quick 6 hour drive there. I'm also looking at getting a cheap pull behind...

I agree on the oversight. I'll keep it state side. I did a lot of calling today and I believe I found a shipping company to take it out of Florida to Galveston, Tx. This way I can visit as often as I...

Re: Looking for advice on a major refit

The cost of new maybe, but I don't think it will be laid up like a tank. Also I can spread the cost of the repairs over one year. I can't get a loan for nothin' right now, even with ok credit, steady...

Re: Looking for advice on a major refit

Most boats I looked at were about 30 to 60k in supposed ready to sail shape. All looked like they needed cosmetic repairs and refit to get them ready for the long haul. Who knows what i would find as...

Re: Looking for advice on a major refit

The way I see it is the same way I see cars. It's better in my mind to buy a project/boat and build it out the way I want. I've seen countless customers come through my shop that have bought their...

Hi Sailmonkey! Yes we have looked into distance and decided to break the trip into a few shorter jaunts. The plan is to motor or tow up to Loggerhead marina in Stuart and go over things there. That...
