If you have separate windlass battery, use that to power the horn and use lighter gauge wire to operate a relay which will switch the horn? |

Have you had a look at a Stebel Nautilus air horn? It's quite compact (I fitted it to my motorbike) and has lasted several UK winters with the associated road salt etc. |

Best of luck to you, I'm sure you'll have a great time taking her out and wonder why you kept putting it off. The Mac28 is a great wee boat, had mine out in 25-30 knot winds and she was no trouble... |

170A cables seems a bit extreme for a 300W inverter. I always thought the '300W' stated was the output power, therefore if the inverter is a 110V system it would be 300W/110V=less than 3A |
