I know it is unclear. Even Matsutec call their product "Transponder". If you check with Wikipedia you get the right answer... :whistling:

I prefer Transceivers for AIS. Transponders is something mounted in planes and answers only on request... For AIS you have signals to and from continued.

I have a Lowrance Link-8 with built-in AIS receiver witch outputs NMEA 0183 to OpenCPN. It has this advantage that it monitors my budget Matsutek HA108 transceiver. I don't think it is a transponder...

I agree with Cadence. Last year I rebuild a VP D1 20B and it starts slightly easier cold than warm. It's a question of 1 crank cold and mayby 1 1/2 rev hot. ⛵
