The Freedom XC is not the 2000. Yes the 2000 is a vintage inverter charger.
Best to read the manual for both the batteries and inverter but it is my understanding (as owner of a Freedom 2500 I-C )...

You should have a pressure test done to assure that you are barking up the correct tree. Not challenging to assemble and might find a different culprit.

The head is strbd aft in cabin separated from the tank by a hanging locker so quite close. Maybe 3 or four feet.
