Re: Captain/Owner Sleeping at the Helm

Mine too. I saw nothing in OP to indicate the gear was not placed into reverse and back to neutral.

Communication helpful. Discussion helpful.

I like the idea of showing captain "I set my...

If you have not seen
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation | (https://www.Healthdata.org)

Re: Buying from owner after working with broker?

First, contract/agreement rules.

But without contract, if you told a broker (presumably a "seller's broker", who has boats listed), that you are interested in a boat, he would be a prudent...

Re: Viable Professions While At Sea

You are already a professional (Banker?). You need to find a niche that allows you to work remotely(internet) with flexible hours. I don't think you need to find a whole new profession.
If you...

Re: Are watermakers losing their relevance?

1st year of SeaTiger in BVI, I had no watermaker. Plans always centered around where to get water and on which day. Also watching our novice guests run water was stressing me out.. And part of the...

If you buy monohull and end up with cabin fever, then...

Re: WANTED: Catamaran

The desire for low engine hours on a used boat (say 6-10 years) may very well be over-rated. These are diesel engines and expectations are for many hours.
Having more experience with airplane...

Re: WANTED: Catamaran

I agree that you should hold out for the boat you want. BUT decide on why you really want it. If the owners cabin gives more amenities, then maybe yes. Are you really going to use a desk in this...

Re: Charter with ASA Skipper, why?

It depends on the skipper. If picking blindly, ASA skipper gives a minimum qualification (and seeking that certification, ASA Skipper displayed a desire to teach sailing).
However, a particular...

Re: What to get for my wife for our week on a boat

The quick drying shirts are a must. Swim shirts both short sleeve and long sleeve are needed for sun protection. A "fishing" shirt is also nice. Water bottle and boat shoes as needed. Gloves if doing...

Re: Just Catamarans Dania Beach FL

Several issues, but the one that took the cake was 'REINSTALLATION" of the outflow from the holding tank. Apparently, forgot the thru hull until back in the water, and thus "short cut" was to mount...

Re: Picking up passengers in St. Thomas from BVIs

It is not hard to check out (JVD) and into USVI (Cruz Bay). Then on return, check all back into BVI at JVD. If you report arriving into BVI before they were open, they may charge you an overtime fee....
