Re: Lithium house and mini-lithium start

Thanks for the replies. In my design, there is a single common ground. Voltage spikes from the starter aren't seen anywhere, because the starter is connected only to the start battery (unless an...

Re: Lithium house and mini-lithium start

wholybee -- good point about the start battery. I'll see if I can find one that is small enough to fit where I need to put it. I need to stick to the Beta specs for CCA, but I'll do some digging. My...

hlev00 -- Tx for your comments. I may not have mentioned, but the diagram was just to show the major components. Before I proceed I will create an actual wiring diagram with all the other bits and...

Re: Lithium house and mini-lithium start

Thanks for the suggestions. The alternator is the 120 amp supplied by Beta. It's internally regulated, but Beta also supplies a device that attaches to the regulator and enables external regulation....

Re: B&G Autopilot RAM T2

The pivot is attached to the ram. By "pin" do you mean the tiller bolt? I don't have it, but it's available online for about $70.

Re: Astra III Professional Sextant with TRAD Mirror

(Chuckle) If you tried to use the traditional sight reduction method, the H.E. (height off eye) correction would be, ah, out of this world!

My guess is that in space you would use the sextant to...

Re: Astra III Professional Sextant with TRAD Mirror

Even though I have no offshore trips planned, this is tempting. Irrelevant question: would a bubble horizon work on the ISS? In zero gravity, how would the bubble know when you are holding the...

Re: moving a US Boat up to Canada

I recently bought a boat in Anacortes, WA and imported it to Canada. I did not have to pay PST because I am a US citizen. I did have to pay GST and import duty(9.5% I think). Import duty is not...

All your suggestions are completely new to me -- thank you for listing some of the alternatives. My hunch is that most rec boaters have no idea about any of this stuff. I consider myself to be a...

Re: Mysterious Engine Failure

Here's the solution.

Re: Mysterious Engine Failure

Great suggestions. Comments below.
