Re: Best place to anchor east cape cod canal?

Me too. It works, even overnight, if the wind direction is steady.

Re: Defender Ind. Data Breach

Yup, noticed $1000+ charges on my card. Contacted bank and had them removed and new card issued. Couldn't figure how the card was compromised, then next day got the email from Defender. AHA! I won't...

Re: Anti-fouling for prop and bow thruster

I use this for the past couple years. Have to scrape in the 3rd year. Not bad for around $30.

Good luck.

Re: Replacing old Raymarine chartplotter

The cables are different on any other plotter, unless you went with an old Raymarine unit, but, why bother?

I upgraded from s C80 to an Axiom last season and had to convert to SeatalkNG. Once you...

Re: PVC Glue for inflatable dinghy....

I've been using Home Depot PVC cement for shower pan liner. The shower pan liner, which they also sell, is excellent patch material. A few of my patches have been on for years, solidly. The newer...

tools and rust

I'm interested in how people keep their tools, hand and power, in good shape in a hostile environment. Special tool box/container, spray protectant, anti rust bags as used with guns, magic potions...

Re: What Did You Think Was Going To Happen?

We were anchored in Hyannis harbor last summer. I was woken by the sound of a freight train going by, right over my head. We were in the middle of a squall that was recorded with gusts to 62 knots. I...

Re: Solar Panels and Seagulls

You still end up dealing with poop, and moving aboard is hardly easy for most of us. Amusing though.

Re: Solar Panels and Seagulls

I use a Gull Sweep, attached to a mid boom eye and hoisted with a spare halyard. I decided on this method because others have been less than effective. I watched a cormorant actively balance on a...

Re: How do people connect the anchor line to the bow?

I'm a light sleeper, so the rode jumping over the bow roller drives me crazy. It takes a little planning, but I attach the anchor directly to a bow cleat, no roller involved. So it goes from the...

Re: methylene chloride to remove interior paint from hull

As a few have mentioned it's a matter of rate. Put it on and scrape it off when you see it reacting, bubbling the surface. Repeat as needed, without letting it linger more than necessary. It's a real...

Re: Mack vs. North sails

I had Mack make me a Genoa a few years ago and it was very good quality at a good price.
Recently I had shopped for a furling main for my C350 and no one could touch the prices from North Direct....

Re: Suggestions for an effective bird repeller

The Gull Sweep is very effective, and with the daily wind on Buzzards Bay the gulls would need to duck at about 120 beats per minute. Remember they are bird brains, and haven't figured it out for...

Re: Suggestions for an effective bird repeller

At the beginning of the 2014 season I found my dodger, bimini and cockpit with about a solid inch of cormorant crap on them. After 2-3 hours of disgusting cleaning I vowed it won't happen again....

Re: Do you think recreational boats should be licensed?

Costs who very little? Doesn't add to government scope? Please don't take this personally, but that is delusional thinking. When has government NOT grown given the chance? Does the renewal of driver...

re: Visibility While at Anchor

These types led lanterns work really well and are inexpensive. This one will last 80+ hours on 4 AA batteries. That's almost 10 nights of illumination. I have a similar one that I hang in the cockpit...

Re: Do you think recreational boats should be licensed?

We'll said brother. Do we really want another runaway beauracracy that we are forced to fund with the result being just more big government? Can anyone say TSA?
Lets put another nail in the coffin...
