Re: boat purchase...possible opportunity or mistake
Don't do it. That is literally buying someone else's problem. I'm in Mexico and there are so many monohulls down here that are turnkey and can be bought for back storage fees. They aren't advertised...

Force 10 stoves, discontinued thermocouple
I have a Force 10, 2 burner stove, that is an older model. They no longer make the thermocouple for my burners and their fix is to replace the burners with the new burners. That costs $230 plus...

Re: Catamaran Shopping: Move Cat from East to West Coast?
Since I bought my boat elsewhere and shipped it. I disagree. I live full time on my boat. I knew what I wanted, and I looked for 2 years on the west coast of the US and couldn't find a boat that...

Re: Catamaran Shopping: Move Cat from East to West Coast?
Zzmeyer, don't be afraid to negotiate with the shippers and play one against another. That's what I did and managed to get the cost down significantly. I shipped my catamaran from Florida to...

I don't know about the first owner's name still being on the TIP, but I had the same situation (LLC owning the boat). When checking in to Mexico and getting my TIP I needed a letter from the LLC...

I, also, haven't read the whole thread since it's wandered so far off topic. My advice is to just start looking at boats. You'll see the difference in how they are made and most importantly how they...

I think you got some good recommendations for a broker. But I will just chime in that a good buyer's broker is worth their weight in gold. I had one when I bought my catamaran and she was wonderful....

Seawind 1000 ventilating with Honda Engines
Folks, I am looking at a Seawind 1000 to buy. The one I am interested in is powered by Honda engines, 25" shaft, prop unknown. The engines are cavitating in a mild sea, and coming very close to the...

Re: 31-35ft sailboat located in Mexico/Sea of Cortez under $14k
Check out San Carlos Yacht Sales. There are a lot of monohulls for sale in San Carlos. In my experience they sell for 1/2-1/3 of the price listed. Good Luck! This time last year, I saw quite a few...

Re: Converting a berth
I agree, why have that extra berth if you don't need it, and if you need more storage. It's your boat you can do anything you like with it. I will likely be doing the same. Isn't this a lovely thing?

Personally, I don't think risking my life in that situation would be worth it. Damage to boats can be repaired.
I'm really glad no one was hurt.

One thing that shows up for me on this boat, is no ventilation in the bunks. When it's hot, you have to have ventilation to sleep.

I can understand not wanting to take off what is there. I gather it can be hard and a terrible job.
I think the beadboard, painted will be nice. I have been enamored of sky blue ceilings lately.
