Re: Suggestions for Newbies going from TX to FL?

The great thing about CF is you get so many opinions and you can sort through them and take what works for you.
We did this trip from CCTX a few years ago as Newbies in a Cape Dory 36 with a 5’5”...

Re: Catamaran collides with object off DR

Having both covers as many bases as possible. An AIS unit would have been worthless in this instance. We have an Epirb for the boat and PLB’s and MOB’s on our Mustangs. Hopefully we can help...

Re: Depth/speed sensor options.

Depth is much more important than speed, IMHO, on a transducer. The transducer is reading the water speed which at times is vastly different than your Speed Over Ground, which is what generally...

Re: Xantrex invertor charger decision

Thanks for the info. My old one is a beast also so I’m assuming is comparable to the 65lb SW. It was manufactured Dec 2003 and still works, just not efficiently anymore.

Re: Any Reason Not To Use PEX On A Boat?

I’ve been building homes for 45 years.
1/2” and 3/4” are easier to find.
3/8” will give you more water than you require on a boat and save your water as well. There’s a formula for volume,...

Re: Diesel Oil Consumption-is this normal?

Mine is the same.
When it’s full, it uses a qt every 8hrs. When it’s at the half mark it uses a qt in a week.....I’m on the ICW heading north.
Plus it doesn’t leak nearly as much at the half mark...

I was once that “Blue water” boat guy and yes, Kretschmer was one of the authors I relied on heavily. I also asked those ignorant questions on CF and got the full spectrum of opinions.
Several...
