Re: Heading down the Spanish and Portuguese coast next year. Best anchorages?

As a resource I would recommend the app Navily which shows anchorages as well as marinas and usually has a bit of commentary from users. You will have a great time. Cheers

Re: I cannot get this boat registered...ideas?

I can recommend a surveyor if that helps. If he cannot go himself maybe he can recommend someone more local. Hope it helps.

Re: Cornell quits electric motors

So it seems the only electric generation was from the regeneration system(?) with no solar or wind - if so, it seems a bit overly optimistic but maybe that was the challenge. Seems you could do a...

Re: Looming for a source for Monel blind rivets?

They seem to have what you want and do prices in Can and US so assume they can ship.
Good luck.

Re: Perko switch proper operation

Suggest you buy a copy of Nigel Calder’s “Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual” which should serve as a handy reference as you get to know your vessel systems. Cheers.

Re: Good starter trailer sailboat?

Another vote for Catalina 22. Owned one for about 8 years. Many weekends aboard when kids were small. A great first boat.

Re: Carrying a 2nd anchor

We carry 3, but as others have said it all depends. We wouldn’t consider heading out with just 1 anchor but there are loads of folk who do...

Re: Cruising in hot places- do you need a calorifier?

We have lived for a long time with hot water only after we run the engine for a bit, coming into port or some-such. Hot water, for us, is a treat when available, even when the weather is warm, and we...

Re: Looking for a great book on maintaining Diesel engines

I also recommend Calder’s book but you really need the engine service manual also. And don’t set Calder’s book on the shelf until a problem arises, read it and re-read it so you get to know some of...

Re: Piezo ignitor from old Force 10 oven/stove - source needed

I’ve used a striker for a welding torch for about 15 years now, cheap, no gas to bother with, the flints last a long time. My 2 cents.
