IF they open at all like about 50% wont do. Then your in a raft and have to enjoy where weather and wind are driving you. A proper prepared dinghy can be closed and has a mast and sails and you get...

Nope white smoke is always water wherever it comes from. Try it out at home and heat water up until the "white smoke" appears.
