Re: o-charts hang opencpn
OpenCPN crashes on Kubuntu 23.10 when I install o-charts. I couldn't find anything in the logs but I didn't spend much time on it. Bummer. |

Re: Balmar SG-200 Battery Monitor
The shunt that came with my SG-200 is marked incorrectly. I had to switch the pos and neg (opposite of the markings cast into the plastic) to get it to work. Belmar acknowledged this quality... |

Re: Battery Monitor Comparison - Victron BMV712 vs Balmar SG200
I was hoping to see some people report success with the SG200 in this thread even if there are clearly some customers that aren't happy. No success stories? |

Re: 39' Hunter underpowered with a 29HP Yanmar?
My boat's PO repowered from 29hp to 39hp. In 10+ years I have never needed all that HP. If I were to repower, I'd go down to 35hp or even less. The extra room in the engine room would be... |

Re: validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
Thanks RandyP. I've very familiar with Mainesail's LiFePO4 article, but I'll check out those other two sources. Your diagram is very helpful but I have a couple of questions: What's the blue... |

Re: validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
I don't understand why the 400w of solar didn't help? Was it simply because you used so many amps during the day to run the boat that there were no excess solar amps to go to recharging the... |

Re: validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
There is a potentiometer on the Powerline 10-170 that the instructions say I can use to lower the sense point to 13.8. I thought one big reason I need a smarter regulator is because sometimes... |

Re: validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
Yeah, this might make sense. But as the OP pointed out, one has to make sure the secondary bank gets the juice it needs to get charged. My (possibly incorrect) understanding is that if all... |

Re: validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
This is helpful, if only just to get me to look at things differently. Because all my existing charge sources can handle charging two different banks, I never have to think about my battery... |

Re: validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
Yes, I must be crazy to consider changing anything after such an amazing run with the old AGMs. I wouldn't be changing the alternator, just the regulator. I would wire it for all... |

validate my LiFePO4 upgrade
I'm planning on replacing my 3 very dead AGMs with LiFoPO4 and would love some feedback on the specifics of my plan. Currently, I have a 3 West Marine AGM (2 G31, 1G27) house bank that barely... |

Re: raritan duck bill wont stop leaking
I had the same problem last summer. Turns out the hose between the Raritan and the vented loop was calcified and causing back pressure. Replaced the hose and the leaking was solved. |

Re: Quality source of LED strips/bulbs/assemblies?
My experience with Marinebeam was not good. Some replacement bulbs generated interference and their bow nav light I installed is dead. |

Re: WiFi antenna mounting options
I have a Groove and I really like it, but it doesn't seem like it was built to be out in the elements long term. I just run it out a port hole and set it on top of my stack pack when I want to use... |

Re: Yanmar 3JH3E fuel return
One addendum. Despite having idled for over 1/2 hour without a hiccup, once I started motoring out of the anchorage, she soon wouldn't go over about 1400 rpm and would stall if I reduced to idle. ... |

Re: Yanmar 3JH3E fuel return
So I removed the hose and inspected it. It didn't look like it was cracked or leaking so I put it back. Before replacing it, I measured the nipple onto which it fits. It was 4.5mm so I'll try to... |

Yanmar 3JH3E fuel return
My 3JH3E is leaking a bit of fuel. I believe I've traced it back to the fuel return line that connects the fuel engine filter to the first of the 3 injectors. It looks easy to replace. My... |
