Re: Potter 15 Help Needed

I would strongly suggest that you look at the post dates before replying. My post is two years old. Sorry about your friend.

Re: Potter 15 Help Needed

Thanks Boatman.... I was not clear about standing vs running rigging. I should have been.

I have reviewed the online and the actual Potter manual that came with the boat (which has the same...

Re: Potter 15 help needed

I have been on many forums back to the BBS days, mostly cars and guitars. Beginners are generally encouraged and other posters tend to be more than generous. Occasionally, there are snarky comments,...

Re: Potter 15 help needed

Really, 4 "wires"? I have the mast up and I don't recall a "wire" going to the back of the boat. Maybe you need a little more tent raising time. Thanks.

"Please read the instruction manual and then ask questions here about what it says that you don't understand."

No, I am not going to learn how to set this boat up with question/answer on a web...

Potter 15 Help Needed

After all the drama of setting up the Honda S2000 to tow my new (to me) Potter 15, I now have to figure out how to rig it. The seller gave me 10 minutes walk thru, seemed impossibly complicated.

Re: Hull Crud

Thanks Ann. When people repaint, is it the entire hull or just below the water line? Also, I have heard horror stories about what the paint costs. $2k/gal? Yikes.

Re: Hull Crud

I will put a better pic up this weekend. But in addition to the whiteish crud, which probably is dried algae, under it up to what I suppose is the water line, is a flat black coat of paint or some...

Hull Crud

Just bought a used Potter 15 over the weekend. Not in nearly as nice shape as I'd been led to believe. The seller dismissed all the issues I had concerns over. This is one. What is this scaly crud on...

Re: Best way to remove mold in the cabin

Omigawd, what is Concrobium? A $500 a bottle sailboat cleaner?

I was hoping my cabin would smell like sea breeze or maybe even bacon? Instead, it will be industrial cleaner I suspect.

Best Way to Remove Mold in the Cabin

Just bought a boat over the weekend. Was in the cabin for the first time and smelled mold. Didnt notice before the sale since it is not overwhelming, but now irritating. I noticed a few areas on the...

Re: Hitch install on a sportscar

Just back from Portland with my new Potter 15. As usual, everything I anticipated as a problem was not, and the stuff I thought was under control, not so much. We will start with the tow vehicle. The...

Re: West Wight Potter 15 Blue Water Layup

I have been showing my wife pics of Potters on the net, in hopes of creating excitement about my pending boat purchase. She pointed out that the sailors in the pics all look like me. This is probably...

Re: Hitch install on a sportscar

I have seen it done, tho not in the US. It simply isn't American to tow without at least a 4 liter 8 and 4 wheel drive.

Re: Hitch install on a sportscar

It does not mean much because a unibody (a GM advertising term) is simply a frame integrated into the body. It does not mean there is no frame. It would come as a surprise to the Honda designers to...

Hah, didn't know that. Only 500 lbs lighter than a Corvette? It's a Japanese 2 seater tank!

Re: Hitch install on a sportscar

I have owned many sports cars over the years. The Hondas greatest feature is that it is a Honda. Nothing ever goes wrong. But it is relatively heavy, probably due to the "high x-bone frame" (that it...

Re: West Wight Potter 15 Blue Water Layup

No, sorry. I am looking a used one. I just don't know whether to value the blue water option, or maybe avoid it.

Thanks tho!
