Re: Lagoon Confidence Lacking

The only reason we didn’t buy a 38(0) was because it was just a bit too small for our needs. I believe it to be the best model Lagoon ever built.
That said we bought a 450F, had the bulkheads...

Re: Best affordable option to haul out and store a catamaran near st augustine

Fairly quick, if kept light, but a lower bridgedeck clearance catamaran. Nice South African lines. For example: https://www.svsoggypaws.com/workshop.htm

Re: Baltimore to NYC pickup for @3 days sailing?

For some reason I’m not getting emailed replies even though it’s my thread. Glad I checked!

Thx guys, esp hugosalt, who helped navigate the East River my first time on our Corsair 36 trimaran!

Baltimore to NYC pickup for @3 days sailing?

Hi folks,
I’ve looked through the threads but hoped for some local advice. We have a 40’ cat, and I’m sailing it up to NYC where I’ll pick up my wife (63), grown daughter and boyfriend. They’ll only...

Re: Prices of used Catamarans at the moment

Having owned a 450F, my only response to that is “YIKES.” :frown:

Re: Cats on the hard for winter?

You’ve pretty much nailed it! We run a small dehumidifier over the winter in our cat, but we also stay in the water.

Re: Cats on the hard for winter?

No reason not to, as mentioned. I’ve never put either of our two cats or two large trimarans on the hard for the winter, but Maryland is not Alaska!

Re: Halyard connection to square top mainsail

Obviously our Lipari 41 is a different boat, but we use a Tylaska shackle for the 2:1 halyard. We bring up the main just far enough to move the ring close enough to the top car where we attack a...

Re: Code Zero/Asym Furling line to helm?

The above description is the right way. It angles the furling line (like on your Genoa), stress is relieved, and keeps the furling line out of everyone’s way, and avoids having a bunch of hardware...

Cell Booster?

We can’t afford a satellite subscription, we’re in a marina with no Wi-Fi, and terrible cell signal. I’m not a whiz at cellular or Wi-Fi stuff but I’ve heard mention of boosting the cell signal on a...

Re: Small Catamaran with a Family of Three? Pros/Cons?

As you are still in your early sailing years, there’s nothing wrong with starting small, developing family sailing skills, OR finding out that bad weather and large seas deter some members from...

Re: Small Catamaran with a Family of Three? Pros/Cons?

After owning 4 trimarans and one cat we’re just getting ready to go cruising afar. My wife will be 62 and I’ll be 70, although we’re both younger than our years.
We’ve downsized from a 45’ cat to a...

Re: Sock vs Top Down for Assymetric

Absolutely another benefit if starting from scratch is the cost difference between a sock and a flying furler setup. I have both and like my gennaker on its furler. The sock and an asymmetrical fill...

Done. I’ve been on the Cruisers Forum so many years, and found the contributions there of such a greater magnitude I assumed it would be the same for an FP. Goes to show ya!

Thx,
