As this excerpt from the 440 manual testifies, the 440 came with the short (USA) mast option. Indeed, 12.5sqm less sail area.

Easy to activate and upgrade for month by month higher service level use when needed.

I see Hamilton Island airport clocked a peak (10min average) wind speed of 103Kts and peak gusts of 142kts. (232km/he and 262km/hr respectively).

My understanding of the difference between the USA classification and the ROW classification is that the wind averaging algorithm is different.

The eye is 75 NM from Hamilton Island where winds are currently averaging 50kts gusting to 60kts.
