Lots of good anchorages in Maine so unless caught in a hurricane 3 anchors are not needed. Don't know about the Baltic. |

Many 40 footers have a bow thruster. Makes it much easier to control the bow. I have a 40 foot single (former sailor) and the thruster is a great "cheat". |

I have crossed the Atlantic 3 times, but never from England. I think I would sail south to the Canaries and cross south of the Bermuda high. As for the boat, my simple comment is the biggest one... |
