Thanks for the lesson SWL! I spent hours sitting in the cockpit with two bits of line last night, and today I'm a pro. Can't wait to try it on a towline or for that matter, any number of situations....

Re: A young girls perspective on rebel heart. 10 years later. New York Times today.

Thanks for that. This will be my 14 year old's first summer of sailing. Hoping that she'll be creating some fond memories too.

Looking at a Grampian 28 as my first great lakes sailboat. Anyone have experience?

She's in good shape, has wheel and autopilot, spinnaker, furling, gps, and the price is right. I have sailed the G26, but wondering about the 28's handling. Any advice would be most welcome!

Re: Shoestring Sailors (Cruising on $500 per month - part II)

Thanks to all for a sleepless night! What a great thread - I know I'll be back to re-read parts. Thought this quote by Chatwin would apply...

Re: Best Small Boat Dog?

I have had a Jack Russell and they are a great dog but require LOTS of exercise. What about a Bichon? Smart, agile, loyal, hypoallergenic, and easy to carry ashore when necessary!

Re: Directional stability expectations...

The comments about Grampian 30 caught me off guard as this is the first I have heard about it. All reports say that the 30 is a great and stable sailor and can handle the Great Lakes just fine. A lot...

Re: ALL IS LOST: The Movie

I have been counting the days and here's the 25th, yet I can't find it playing anywhere in southern Ontario. When does it open in Toronto? I'm willing to drive almost anywhere!

Re: Bluewater Cruisers for under $15,000

thomm225, love the Bristol! I have a teenage daughter who will be with me regularly for nights/weekends, so a 27 may be a bit close, but if I was on my own I'd jump at one.
