Re: Do you calibrate you depth sensor to water level or keel?

we use water depth. calibration is by a 100’ tape measure with weight on end so no doubt about reading. Years ago my depth sounder broke and I improvised with a line and weight for depth. When we got...

Re: HF Radio propagation table

Here in Pacific Mexico ham and marine SSB are still very much in use by many cruisers. Satellite links and phone line are not much use for regional networking like a daily radio net. Sure you can get...

Re: transducer forward of keel will it get trashed?

We had a forward looking sonar transducer mounted forward of the keel for many years. It came in handy negotiating tricky entrances many times. It was not very useful in ordinary passages since the...

Re: Avoiding embarrassing fuel spills

A game changer for me was watching the diesel as I filled a jerry jug with diesel. It foams up like ginger ale poured into a glass, big head of foam but not long lasting. So you are spot on about...

Re: Porta-bote haters: what's not to like?

We are on our third bote and the transom and seats are always changing. The first 8' vote had plywood seats and plywood drop in transom. Heavy but durable. Then we changed to a 10' model with plastic...

Re: WARNING- SCAMMER ON FORUMS
