Re: Sean PR: XML Update - Pull Request
Australia has an FTP site that appears to contain all of their products, but it does not appear to have an index. I will put together a catalog for you.

Re: WeatherFax ...
The ???? is probably %H%M%S (21:30:00). We need to figure out how often they are published and if they are consistent with the file name. Then it would be a matter calculating the the time to use...

Re: Keeping a Proper Lookout -- A Cautionary Tale
Depending on your set (Vespermarine) you can also have an alarm based solely on distance from your ship. You can also be able to filter out targets that are not moving so that they do not trigger a...

Re: Deleting Tracks is awefully slow here
I just tried to delete a layer (22.3MB). First track had 94500 points it took 5 mins with "OpenCpn(Not Responding)" then 22 minutes with the Track Delete Window. Next track was 32000 points took...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2330 Released
I think that the new cache for MMSIs is a great idea. It is nice to see the targets name available right away. I have been entering MMSIs and it has raised a few points/questions for me.
If you...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2316 Released
Dave etal,
I had just discovered this new feature before it was brought up in this thread.
I like the idea for this feature, but I am not sure how practical it is in its current form. As I see...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.2316 Released
Not sure if this is an issue with OpenCPM, qtVLM or Windows. When I use copy route to transfer a new route from qtVlm (3.4.4 patch1) to OpenCPN I loose the right click menu in OpenCPN and cannot use...

Re: Schengen caution on the North Atlantic circuit
The Schengen clock starts when you first enter a Schengen country and stops or pauses when you get stamped out. If you forget to get your exit stamp the time you spend at sea will count toward your...

Re: Porta-bote or Inflatible?
I have a 10' PB that we originally we had a 4 HP on. It would just plane with one person in the bote. After upgrading to 8 HP we had no difficulty planing with the two of us in the boat.

Re: Schengen rules have changed
Matt,
Note they count days from the entry stamp to the exit stamp. When you leave the Azores make sure you get an exit stamp. Tell them you are going to Gibraltar or Morocco. You don't want to...

Re: Schengen rules have changed
It was not a loophole, it was a ruling by a Judge that set the precedent for how to apply the rules. It may not have been the initial intent of the rule but it was the rule none the less.

Re: Schengen rules have changed
My experience
Portugal - they count the days over six months looking for multiple entry and exit stamps. Cruisers that overstayed in Horta a couple of years ago were fined, albeit only 1 Euro...

Like the 6 people you mention, this has affected me as well and I have had to re-plan my 2014 cruising that was based on an early first entry for back to back periods at the 6 month point.
While...

Re: azores 2014 how safe is it?
chuckr,
We were equally taken with the Azores. For those of us who to abide by the 90/180 day Schengen rules, make Ireland or the UK your next stop to get some non-Schengen time.
P.S. They...

I agree with Nick here. I believe that life on passage should be as comfortable and as near normal as possible. It helps make the transition to a watch schedule easier and it also can reduce...
