Rope Antenna for SSB
Has anyone used the Rope Antenna for SSB. If so how well did it work.

For all the RF techies out there(i.e. btrayfors and others) please tell me why you think it will or will not work as well as other approaches to SSB antennas.

I am thinking about installing one on my catamaran instead of insulating a side stay.

The website is

Thank you!

I know a guy who installs them and he is very happy with the results.
To try something similar you could previously get a simple wire of the same length up and try that out.

I seriously considered the rope but then went to a vertical whip, since the rope would interfer with the ropes used for my spinnaker or would run too parallel with the rods or mast.

Different boats would get different results.

I looked at this but I am cruising the upper Bahamas and an SSB is not really needed. I think that this is your best bet. For the price you could buy 3 for the cost of others. Just make sure that the connections are very water tight.
