REMOTE VGA MONITOR

2 Attachment(s)
I have a Simrad NSE-8 mounted at the Nav station. There is not room at the helm for a plotter. I looked in all of the usual places for a DVI or VGA remote monitor to operate as a slave to the NSE-8. The arms race makes it very difficult to find a monitor smaller than about 19 inches and lots of watts. I finally stumbled on Monitors for Mobile Computors. These are the small screens you see in an automobile and other places. If you need one google the line in bold. I bought one from:
Xenarc Technologies - 800YV - 8" VGA TFT LCD Monitor

There are other sources as well but be careful regarding resolutin & the type of connections. Most are RCA only. Make sure it has a 75mm VESA mount if you need it. I did find one that was waterproof but 1700 bucks. Xenarc is planning a "splash-proof" to release in the fall. The Xenarc units tolerate DC power from 9 to 30 Volts.

The photo shows my first crack at it with a RAM mount to a 14 inch (now broken) monitor. It worked well for a short time. I will have to build a hard case for the new screen.
