Frigibar Anyone?

2006 thread asked same question. Anyone information on this product?

Need to do a ice box conversion. This product made in Miami seems like a good deal but have found no information.

Re: Frigibar Anyone?

I sometimes forget that Frigibar refrigerated boxes and line of fiberglass deck boxes is also the home of LectricIceman. They offer their own old style gadget free Adler Barbour unit look alike but with new variable speed Danfoss BD 12/24 volt compressor.

Frigibar’s Icebox conversion Model EVH complete system at $1005 I believe is a good choice for a boat rather than some of the European RV units. I have never heard in the last twenty years any problems with these units. In the beginning they offered a lifetime warranty on components of these systems for an additional $25 dollars. One owned said he received a new electronic module from them at no charge after many years of full live aboard use.

I believe all manufactures of these refrigeration systems use creative advertising when it comes to performance. When you look at performance it is the capacity match of each component in a system that will determine overall performance not gadgets like water cooling and electronic thermostats. Reliability of the system you select depends on gadget free simple proven design and selecting correct unit for the right application. None of these small 12 volt units will supply adequate refrigeration to even a well insulated ten cubic foot box in hot weather ( above 80 degree F ). If you plan on keeping your new unit serviceable while cruising it must be, repairable, parts must be available locally, and it must be a simple system.

North Pacific, First determine the capacity of icebox conversion depending on box’s size and your intended use cruising area then check prices. My slide show will guide you through this process, and then go for price as there are many companies in this business using common components. If you plan to remain in the North and box to be converted is not too large say 8 cubic feet Frigibar or Nova Kool may have a unit that fits your needs and priced right.
