Replacing Raymarine Course Computer 150

I have a Raymarine autopilot course computer 150 (E12054) connected to a ST6001+ controller, rudder indicator, compass, and Lecomble & Schmitt hydraulic pump (2002 boat). I experienced erratic behavior with the AP: unsolicited hard turns and drive stop errors. I had it looked at by a technician who declared the computer "bad".
Can I simply replace the 150 computer with an S2 computer? It looks like they're both marked "E12054".
I called Raymarine but could only get a "buy all new" response, which I'd like to avoid.
Thank you!
