She comes from the same mold as the Hans Christian double ender 36 and the Union 36 very seaworth vessels

Greetings, sharp looking vessel. You will learn to love the seakindly motion that most D/E provide. We have sailed a Colin Archer design (seafarer) 40' gaff cutter through thick & thin with nothing but praise.

Yes she is a real beauty inside and out I would have loved to seen her with her original wooden spar

well.... you'll be happy it's gone though! Is the deck on yours fiberglass molded or ply with glass cover?

Congratulations! I saw this same boat down in the Keys when I was shopping with my son for a boat. It was bigger than his search criteria and we were concerned with the engine not running. What was the outcome with the engine? I thought it was beautiful, but it was not for us.

Hi Mao, sounds like you've got a great boat. Our Rafiki 37 is a double-ender, likely made in or near the same time and place your Mao Ta was. Great boats. Love the big water, and you never have to wonder what to do with a spare day -- there's always varnishing to be done ;-)

Congrats on the boat.

I get the same comments about the compression post in my little boat being a stripper pole. Your boat looks pretty good. I like the layout.

Have fun with her. ;)

There was no "turn off". I loved the features, design & construction. As I said earlier, the boat did not meet my son's search criteria. He was looking for something around 30' and the LOA of the Mao Ta was about 15' longer. The Mao Ta 36 is much longer than 36'! 'loved the boat, though!

My buddy has a 36 Union, and it's a hoot... Sails like a dream... LOVE the boat... :smitten:

Don't like?

Miniature Popeye spoked wheel and straddling the shaft... Actually it's more the gear that I don't like... Worm gear quadrant arrangement... crapo feedback and high forces everywhere...

Black iron tanks... :banghead:

EDIT: Goodness... Where are my manners...?

:bravo:!!!BRAVO MRS. MAO!!! :bravo:
