Solent Stay

Does any buddy know what the distance down from the mast head for a solent stay. I am seeing more and more boat using them. I am going to make it removable like a lot of cutters that have a removable staysail.

Thanking you in advance for any help with making the final location on my mast head sloop. I May add a bow sprit later. but that's anther story.

Waybad,

There's another solent stay thread current in CF, and it gives the percentage of mast length down from the attachment of the forestay that you can attach the solent stay.

FWIW, we had a detachable staysail plus furler come adrift from the foredeck in sloppy seas when its Hyfield lever came open. Trashed the furler, the sail, and the top lifeline and one stanchion. Just make sure the Hyfield lever cannot come open unless you open it.
